Why Choose For Love's Sake

Unlike most adoption sites designed to help you find prospective adoptive parents, this site was developed by a birthmother. Being a woman who placed my own child for adoption made me aware of the limited choices out there. I did not want to fill out reams of paperwork for an agency/attorney to then find out there wasn't a family I felt a connection to. It is imperative that a woman choosing adoption have all of her choices laid out in front of her. That includes all types of families who are certified to adopt, not just those deemed appropriate by others. The position of this site is that it is up to the birthmother to decide who will make the best family for her child. The only way that can happen is by offering a forum where all families are welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions...

If I am interested in a family, what do I do?
There are a number of ways to make contact with an adoptive family. Under the "contact us" section of each biography you will find a way to email the adoptive family and telephone numbers if you prefer to speak directly with the family. If you would prefer to speak with the adoptive family's professionals, their numbers can be found in the "who we are" section of their biography.

Can I contact more than one adoptive family while making my decision?
Yes! It is always a good idea to contact more than one family, but it is also a good idea to let the prospective families know you are talking to more than one family.

What type of contact can I expect with the adoptive parents?
Contact is a very personal thing and it is very important that you and the adoptive parents discuss what you are both comfortable with. Some birthmothers and adoptive parents choose to have a lot of contact during the pregnancy and after placement, while others do not. There is no right or wrong when it comes to contact, there is only what everyone feels comfortable with.

How do I know the family is able to adopt my child?
We do not allow a family to post their information on this site until they are certified to adopt in their home state. That means they have met their state's criteria and have a completed, approved home study.
